Infectious Disease Protocol

Symptom Reporting

Students and staff experiencing symptoms of an infectious illness — including fever, cough, shortness of breath, or gastrointestinal symptoms — must report to the School Director and refrain from attending campus until cleared.

Hand Hygiene

Frequent and thorough handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is required. Hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is available throughout the campus and must be used when handwashing is not immediately available.

Personal Protective Equipment

Students are required to follow PPE guidelines as directed by faculty during clinical training and lab activities. Proper donning and doffing procedures must be observed at all times.

Equipment Sanitation

All clinical equipment, including ultrasound probes and transducers, must be properly cleaned and disinfected before and after each use in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and school policy.

Isolation Procedures

Any individual confirmed or suspected to have a communicable disease will be asked to leave campus immediately and must follow applicable public health guidelines before returning.

Externship Sites

Students on externship must also comply with the infectious disease and infection control policies of their assigned clinical site in addition to school policy. Site-specific requirements take precedence where more stringent.
